SWEET SHOPPING RETREAT
November

Every year during hunting season and before Thanksgiving, people flock from around the state to Northfield for amazing bargains at Cabot Hosiery Mills’ famous sock sale and the Barry T. Chouinard Comfort Colors t-shirt/sweatshirt sale (to benefit the Northfield Area Hockey Association). Black Diamond Sportswear in Montpelier also holds their annual blow-out sale at the same time.  Includes a $20 gift certificate for the Cabot Sock Sale.

A SWEET MAPLE RETREAT
Available March – mid April  (dependent upon Mother Nature)
There is nothing sweeter than sugar making in Vermont. As soon as the sap begins to run in early spring, the ritual begins and our sugarhouse in the woods becomes the center of activity. Join us for this Vermont tradition and watch/help as we make Pure Vermont Gold® maple syrup before your very eyes.  We’ll send you home with a half gallon of freshly made syrup bottled warm right off the evaporator ($20 value).

A SWEET PEONY RETREAT
Available Last week in May – mid July
Northfield is home to Countryman Peony Farm, the largest peony farm in the country with over 1500 varieties of showy peonies. Tour the display gardens on foot or in a golf cart, and feast your eyes on plate-sized puffs of pink, ruby red, white, coral, burgundy and gold. Includes farm tour and a coupon towards a peony root of your choice ($20 value).

SWEET LABOR DAY GETAWAY
Between Northfield’s Labor Day Observances’ three day festival and Randolph’s New World Festival of Music, it’s a hoppin’ good time! The annual New World Festival, voted one of “Top Ten Fall Events” year after year by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, takes place on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, with some 100 musicians and folk dancers from Northern New England and Quebec.
Visit them at www.newworldfestival.com.
Northfield sponsors a footrace (Sat) with activities and live music throughout the weekend— culminating on Monday at 10:30 with the largest parade in the state, in which Ray drives his teams of oxen. The guesthouse is just 15 minutes from Randolph. Includes 1 ticket to the New World Festival ($25 value)

SWEET CARILLON CONCERT RETREAT
Available Saturdays in July
Every Saturday throughout July, Norwich University hosts several world-renowned carillonneurs during its annual summer concert series performed on the Charlotte Nichols Greene Memorial Carillon, in the Jeannie Porter Adams Memorial Tower, located on the college campus. Hear the ethereal music of the 47-bell carillon while enjoying a summer weekend in central Vermont. Concerts are free. Package includes a box lunch for two to enjoy during the concert.

Please Note:  It is always wiser to book well in advance of our popular local events.

Thanks!
